Rehabilitation
The Lutheran Healthcare Center has a staff of professional rehabilitation therapists, as well as a residential partnership with the Jewish Healthcare Center, helping people regain strength and dexterity after illness, surgery, or trauma.
Rehabiliation services include:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Home Visits in anticipation of discharge
Therapy includes treatment for: orthopedic conditions, such as knee replacements, fractures and chronic arthritis; neurological conditions, such as stroke; cardiac conditions such as heart bypass surgery; pulmonary conditions such as emphysema; diabetes; and post-operative recovery.
The Rehabilitation Department also specializes in cognitive retraining and compensatory retraining for various levels of dementia. All therapy programs are customized and developed in coordination with the resident’s doctor and the interdisciplinary team at the Lutheran Healthcare Center.
Our short-term residents, who are here for rehabilitation before returning to their home, find that our individualized approach to their therapy needs enables them to reach their highest level of functioning and independence.
A comprehensive discharge plan is developed with each resident and family or responsible party. This enables individuals to continue to thrive once they return to the community. Community re-entry plans are made with local health agencies and may include in-home services such as home healthcare workers, as well as out patient therapy and exercise programs.
Our long-term residents are encouraged to engage in therapy at different times during their stay, both to reach and maintain their optimal level of functioning.
The Lutheran Healthcare Center is a Medicare/Medicaid certified facility. Other insurance plans may be accepted with pre-authorization. Rooms at LHC may be reserved and therapy services may be arranged before a hospital stay.
